There are situations where you want to change how currency pairs are quoted. In this article we will show you how to change the price currency on FX Transactions.
Here's how it works:
- For the combination GBP/PLN the price currency default is PLN.
- Let's say you want GBP as Price currency you simply change in dropdown Price cur. By default you have to enter the inverted rate.
Note!
Check the amounts after changing the price currency and rate.
If you would like to see the PLN/GBP rate as 4,995 even if the price currency is GBP. You can change the currency code structure setting for this combination. Here's how:
- Go to Register > Currency Codes/Structures
- Choose GBP in the Price currency column to the left.
- Choose PLN in Base currency column to the right.
- Check column Inv to get the rate inverted.
Warning!
This will effect all deal with this currency combination. Please see futher down, How to check if there are any deals that will be effected.
After setting the GBP/PLN as Inverted deals will be displayed like below:
Search for potentially effected deals in the ledger or ledger query only. If there is no transactions it is OK to change the currency code structure setting.
If one of the currencies in the actual currency pair is the 'System base' and you import rates, you shall be careful. A change as described will affect the currency rate tables and if so we do the NOT recommend that you change the structure.
