Extended selections are a useful way to create saved search filters. This enables you to find transactions faster if you don't know the reference number for example. Extended selections are available in most ledger forms throughout the system. It will enable selection of transactions based on a combinations of date ranges, reference numbers and complete portfolio code selections. You can also choose to exclude certain portfolio codes to narrow down your search criteria.
- Selections can be saved for use in all ledgers in the system
- Selections can be defaulted for certain ledgers meaning that they will always load once you open a certain ledger
- Selections are user specific
Let's take a look at how you create an extended selection to show todays deals:
- Open up a ledger, for example Deal Input > Ledger
- Click on the big binocular
- Click "Create" and give your selection a name. For example "Todays deals"
- Set your selection criteria by entering TODAY to TODAY in Deal date and press OK
- Your deals will now display and the big binocular will turn red to indicate that the selection is active.
Note!
When an extended selection is activated, the large binocular will be colored red and further detailed queries of transaction are now possible within the extended selection via the regular query function (small binocular or F7/F8). An activated extended selection is deactivated with the Reset button from within the selection form.
Set default selection for certain ledgers
Here is how you setup to automatically activate an extended selection in a certain ledger:
- Go to your ledger of choice
- Click on the big binocular
- Choose your selection name in the list
- Then choose the ledger you would like the selection to be defaulted for
- The default extended selection is activated automatically whenever that ledger is opened
